CALG (Cromarty Adult Learners Group)
The following sad news has been received
CALG has been dissolved
At the CALG Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday 29th May 2007, it was agreed that the Group would be dissolved.
This is for a variety of reasons. As usual in Cromarty, there is a shortage of volunteers to take active committee positions, and a further year of "resting" could cause issues with the charitable status of the group.
After five years of voluntary work by a wide range of volunteers - particularly by the Chairman, Sandy Thomson - the group is accordingly dissolved.
If there is future appetite for a local learning group, the field will then be clear for a new team of volunteers; may we wish those who helped with CALG good luck in their future activities.
In line with the constitution of CALG the small sum remaining in the bank account, and the light projector are being transferred to another local group, the Cromarty History Society.
To help those with a particular interest in local learning, the Black Isle Virtual Learning Centre(BIVLC) is looking at the running of some local IT courses in Cromarty in the future. If you have an interest in attending a course, or indeed offering tuition in some IT/ICT area, please contact the BIVLC Learning Co-ordinator Estelle Ellwood.
