Reprieve for Miller House and Cottage

The National Trust for Scotland has announced that the Hugh Miller Museum and Birthplace Cottage will remain open. The NTS chief executive Kate Mavor has said, "Fortunately through a creative and flexible approach to staffing we have been able to find a solution which enables the Hugh Miller Museum to remain open and continue to bring the story of one of Scotland's most pre-eminent geologists to life for visitors." See story in Press and Journal

Unfortunately, the "flexible approach to staffing" is at the expense of Martin Gostwick's full-time position as manager.  Local volunteers with the assistance of part-time senior visitor assistant Zooulla Spirou will run the museum in future. Full story in the Inverness Courier

The museum is open Sundays to Wednesdays from 1.00pm to 5.00pm.
