For the first time in nearly 20 years, Cromarty bowlers have won the Black Isle Pairs competition. In the final match, played on the Cromarty green yesterday evening, local pair George Price and Andrew Munro defeated George Chalmers and Billy Sutherland of Fortrose/Rosemarkie Bowling Club. The last time Cromarty won the competition was in 1990, when Andrew's father and grandfather formed the winning pair.
The Pairs competition is part of a week-long series of charity events. This evening Cromarty hosts a Spoon Night open to all members of the six Black Isle bowling clubs. Proceeds from both events will go to Highland Hospice and Macmillan Nurses.
