Didn't the girls do well?

At today's 2009 Ross-shire Ladies Singles Bowling Championship, the Cromarty Bowling Green was looking at its best with the Saltire flag fluttering merrily in the light breeze. Tain bowler Marie MacRae, St Duthus BC, was the outstanding player of the day — winning the title of Ladies Champion with Claire Munro, Cromarty BC, a very well-deserved runner-up. The other semi-finalists were Susan Florence, Cromarty BC, and Katie Sutherland, Fortrose and Rosemarkie BC.

Cromarty BC had its biggest ever entry with six ladies taking part — Mary Erskine, Sue Florence, May Hunter, Sheila Macdonald, Claire Munro, and Pam Thompson. Club President Alan Hunter was absolutely delighted with their performance, considering that it was the first Open Competition for four of them, and two have only one year's bowling experience. This bodes very well for the club’s chances in next year’s tournament.  AH
