A great day to end the bowling season

The Bowling Green, immaculate and looking like an emerald carpet. The Clubhouse, dazzling white in the late summer sun. Six rinks in full flow with 24 competitors each one determined to deliver the winning shot of their game. This was the scene on Saturday at Cromarty Bowling Club's biggest event of the year. An amazing 32 entries (64 bowlers) came from as far away as Brora and Golspie. Starting at 9am and using the Avoch, Fortrose, and Cromarty greens in the preliminary rounds, the number had been whittled down to eight pairs entering the quarter-final in Cromarty after lunch. One Cromarty pair made it through to the semi-finals, but the final was an all-Fortrose affair with Euan Fraser and Dod Chalmers winning the magnificent 'Cromarty Mains Cup'.
