Residents at the east end of the High Street had an unwelcome surprise last Friday evening when they discovered sewage oozing from a blocked drain onto the pavement and road. It took several hours and many frantic phonecalls to drain specialists, Scottish Water, SEPA and finally the police before Scottish Water arrived, after midnight, to clear the main drain blockage. The cause? Hand wipes from an unidentified property on the High Street. Let this be a reminder to us all to think before we flush 'unnatural' items down the loo.
