'Rebus' author's interest in Cromarty property

The Scottish Daily Mail and Press & Journal report this weekend that Scottish author Ian Rankin is "believed to have bought" a Cromarty property as a Highland retreat for his family.

The Edinburgh-based Rankin knows the Black Isle from previous holiday visits, as shown in this Sunday Times 'My Hols' article from 2004: "We went to Cromarty, which to most people is just a name in the shipping forecast, but in reality is a beautiful 18th-century town, with sandy beaches off which bottlenose dolphins swim, surrounded by stunning, rugged, unspoilt countryside."
