Cromarty Primary schoolchildren display their copies of the eagerly-awaited Squaring the Circle: The Amazing Life of Sir Thomas Urquhart of Cromarty at the book launch yesterday.
Last year a competition to choose a writer and illustrator of the children's book was judged by an expert panel, including the P7 class at Cromarty School.
The winning writer Jane Verburg (left, back row) was on hand for the launch, along with Sandy Thomson (right, Convener of the Cromarty History Society which published the book). Copies will be distributed to all P6 and P7 children in the 12 Black Isle primary schools. Thereafter, it will be on sale, priced at £2.95, in local outlets, at the Urquhart conference later this month and at the 21 April meeting of the Cromarty History Society.
Two other writers were chosen last year for the short leet of three, and their stories can be downloaded from the History Society's 'Library' page: My Life: Sir Thomas Urquhart by Greg Fullerton and A Ghost Visits Cromarty by Graham White.
