In honour of his 400th birthday, the dashing Laird of Cromarty, Sir Thomas Urquhart, has been presented with a book of essays about his life and times. The contributors include distinguished academics from New York and Oxford along with some of Scotland’s major historians and experts on 17th century literature. The essays are based on papers presented to a conference organised by the Cromarty Arts Trust and held in Cromarty last April.
Conference organiser and editor of the new book, Sandy Thomson, says: ‘Sir Thomas was in no doubt about his own genius; and as someone who had traced his ancestry back to Adam and Eve was justly proud of his distinguished ancestry. So I suspect he would think this latest recognition was no more than his due.’
The book is available in the Cromarty Post Office, The Emporium and from the Cromarty Arts Trust at a price of £6.95.
