Two weeks from today resurfacing work will start on the Kessock Bridge. We have been warned! Hopefully, there will be no three-hour delays to match the one-day traffic slow-down experienced earlier this month. However, four months of bridge works with a single lane of traffic in each direction will cause difficulties for all of us on the Black Isle who travel to Inverness and beyond.
Transport Scotland suggests several options during this 16-week period:
- Start thinking about alternative and easier ways to travel while these works are going on — public transport will allow you to get in and out of Inverness faster. See Stagecoach bus timetable.
- Could you car-share? A local car-share scheme has been set up and if enough people take advantage of this, there will be fewer cars on the road and less congestion. www.highland.liftshare.com
- Congestion will be worst during rush hour – could you start work earlier or later to avoid peak time traffic? Would your employer allow working from home?
- If travelling by car during peak times check the Traffic Scotland live traffic camera for the area. http://trafficscotland.org/livetrafficcameras See A9 North Kessock camera.
