Shoe boxes ready for journey to Romania

One hundred forty-one shoe boxes are awaiting collecting to be transported to Blythswood Care's Deephaven depot and their onward journey to Romania in time for Christmas. Organiser of the Cromarty sorting station Pam Thompson and her year-round helpers wish to thank everyone who contributed their knitting, sewing, other required items and worked at wrapping and filling boxes.

This is the 20th anniversary of Blythswood's annual Shoe Box Appeal and over 1.6 million boxes have been donated and distributed through the years. Although we may take the small items of warm clothing, toiletries, toys and stationery for granted, they can often be luxuries for people living in desparate poverty. Boxes will go to Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine this year.
