Getting ready to dig

Year two of the Cromarty Medieval Burgh Community Archaeology Project is underway. Building on the success of last summer's dig, supplies and personnel are being assembled for excavation to be undertaken between 12 July and 3 August on the Reeds Park site.

For those interested in participating this year, there will be two free training weekends (21–22 and 28–29 June). No experience is necessary, but advance booking is required (contact info@medievalcromarty.org or 01381 600726).

This week Mary Peteranna of RoCAS has been working with Cromarty Primary School children, introducing them the site and archaeological field methods. As well as getting 'hands on' experience, they had the thrill of recovering some medieval pottery.
