Pile-driving at Nigg to continue

Global Energy has informed the Cromarty Community Council that the driving of piles at their Nigg Energy Park extension has been slower than they hoped.

They will be  seeking a further five days' consent to impact pile and if consented, they will have at least six more days impact piling over the next two weeks and then a break until the end of August when they will probably require more impact hammering.

Due to the fact that the maximum hammer weight being used is only 9 tonnes  (compared to the 40 tonne hammer often associated with impact piling) they expect the sound levels to be quite low. They hope the residents in and around Cromarty will not be too disturbed by this work.
