Hurricane Bertha leaves its mark

The remnants of Hurricane Bertha brought overnight heavy rain and strong winds that left damage across Cromarty. This willow tree on the Cromarty Estate split and fell across a shared private driveway and wall. The large marquee in the Reeds field — left from the recently-completed archaeological dig and awaiting removal to the Victoria Park for Saturday's Gala — was blown against a fence. Trees were down on the Stroopie Road. Residents across the town awoke to find garden furniture, bean poles and other, untethered items strewn over their property.

Winds and rain are predicted to ease by tomorrow morning.
