CYO and BIM present Britten's 'St Nicolas'

This afternoon Cromarty Youth Opera with friends from Black Isle Music presented Benjamin Britten's cantata 'St Nicolas' in the West Church. The performance was conducted by Edward Caswell with a mixed chorus of local children and adults and tenor soloist Jamie MacDougall. The instrumental accompaniment included strings, percussion, piano duet and organ.

The cantata depicted the life of St Nicolas in nine scenes from his birth, devotion to God, sea journey to Palestine (featuring a dramatic storm), imprisonment, forty years as Bishop and death.
