Crime writers come to Cromarty

Crime writer Louise Welsh opened the third Cromarty Crime and Thrillers weekend with a talk on 'Writing the end of the world' and signing copies of her latest book. Further speakers Ian Rankin and Christopher Brookmyre shared insights into their influences and methods of writing and read excerpts from their work. Denise Mina joins the group on Sunday with a morning talk, followed by paired sessions of "Doubletalk' with Louise Welsh and Ian Rankin, followed by Denise Mina and Christopher Brookmyre.

Meantime, a Saturday workshop for writers and budding literary talents was held in the Old Brewery's Loft Studio with tutor Morag Joss.

A Murder Mystery Dinner in the Royal Hotel on Friday and a Curry Supper Concert on Saturday rounded off the weekend's activities.
