Families enjoy Medieval Day at dig site

Archaeologist Lachlan McKeggie (in historically-accurate costume) guides a group around the dig site pointing out discoveries unearthed in three seasons of the Cromarty Medieval Burgh Community Archaeology Project.

Today's programme was planned to appeal to all ages and included a number of special activities for children with craft demonstrations, pilgrim badge-making and 'Catch the Fish'. Another family-oriented Crafts Day is scheduled for Saturday, 18 July.

Tomorrow is the start of an intensive two-weeks of digging. Several specialists will be visiting during the fortnight and giving free 20-minute training sessions on identifying artefacts from the site, radiocarbon dating and photography. Dates and times given on Calendar of Events.
