No Splash & Dash in 2016

Cromarty’s popular Splash & Dash event will take a break in 2016 and intends to return, refreshed and restructured, in 2017 — to run every second year thereafter.

The decision has been taken to allow organisers, volunteers and local businesses to have a well-deserved year off, as well as providing an opportunity to develop the event format further.

Since 1st January 2010, the Cromarty Splash & Dash has attracted hundreds of people every year from across the Black Isle and well beyond to the iconic Highland town of Cromarty on New Year’s Day for a refreshing Splash in the sea and/or a mad Dash to the top of the South Sutor or mini Dash around the town. As well as the hundreds of participants, hundreds more spectators enjoy the spectacle and the opportunity to greet friends, family and visitors on the first day of the year. With support from a team of dedicated community volunteers and a range of local businesses, the event has grown to be the biggest of its type in the North of Scotland and a key component of many people’s Highland Hogmanay celebrations.

We look forward to wishing you all a Happy New Year in 2017.
