Thunder, then the deluge

First came the rumble of thunder, then a deluge of rain along with soil and seed potatoes poured down the hill from Cromarty Mains to the corner of the Causeway and Miller Road. Although nearby residents managed to clear some drains, a 'man and a machine' despatched by Highland Council Roads department arrived by mid-afternoon to remove most of the mud and water so that cars could proceed up the hill.

Fortunately, no bowling matches were scheduled for Saturday afternoon, as the bowling green was flooded, too.
