Sad fate of Camperdown Elm

Forsyth House owner, Ann Fraser, reports "a bit of bad news" regarding the large Camperdown Elm in her front garden. She reports that "this magnificent tree which is over 100 years old has the dreaded Dutch Elm Disease verified by the Highland Council team who deal with tree preservation.

"The tell-tale signs were spotted by a neighbour. There are no preventative measures that can be taken to either stop it killing the tree or from spreading. The warmer and wet winters have allowed this beetle to migrate North and it is now endemic on the Black Isle."

An application to the Highland Council is being submitted in order for the tree to be cut down.
