Another fine performance from Cromarty Youth Opera

Sheila the elephant takes a starring role in this evening's performance of 'Elephant Angel' by Cromarty Youth Opera. Commissioned by Scottish Opera and composed by Gareth Williams, the opera is based on the true story of the first female keeper at the Belfast Zoo. During the Blitz she would walk Sheila from the zoo to her own garden where she was kept overnight - an act which saved her life when other animals were killed for fear they would escape if the zoo was bombed.

The opera is performed again on Thursday and Friday evenings at 7.00pm in the West Church. Admission free, donations at door.
