Publlc meeting looks to future development in Cromarty

A large number of Cromarty residents turned out to this evening's public meeting organised by the Cromarty & District Community Council. Council chairman Jacqui Ross introduced representatives of four groups who presented their current work in the community and plans for the future: Harbour Trust, Cromarty Care, Electric Car Project and Film Society.

The newly constituted Cromarty Community Development Trust will be able to carry out projects to benefit the community in the areas of community development, education, environmental protection, recreation and culture, heritage and science.

Due to ever-restricted Highland Council funds, we will have to be prepared to undertake many of these proposed projects ourselves through the CCDT. If funds can be found, Cromarty could benefit from having enhanced wave protection at the harbour, a six-car ferry, town officer, permanent 30-seat cinema, electric car charge point, facilities for camper van owners.
