The gusty winds, frosty nights and snow flurries of a week ago are long past. Milder temperatures have cleared the streets and pavements of treacherous ice.
We may have to wait another year for a white Christmas, but we can fully enjoy the holiday spirit in Cromarty. Shops are full of festive fare, houses are decorated with wreaths and sparkling lights, musicians prepare for carol services.
Opening times for local businesses are given on the Notices page — several are open on Christmas Eve for last-minute purchases.
Both local churches have special services over the holiday period. The popular 'Carols by Candlelight' service in St Regulus' Church is on Friday evening at 7.30pm. The West Church hosts a Watchnight service at 11.15pm on Christmas Eve, and St Regulus' has a Christmas Day service at 9.45am.
