Cromarty Youth Action Group (CYAG)
A message from Wanda:
I believe that all young people, no matter where they live or who they live with, deserve the chance to be the very best they can be. The children of today are tomorrows teachers, doctors, scientists, ‘politicians’ isn’t that a scary thought?(joking), and we must all help them reach their goals.
Most young people are cared for and encouraged by their parents, grandparents or perhaps a brother or sister. But some children aren’t as lucky and don’t have the love of a family around; though this is sad, it is very true for a number of young people I have worked with. This again is where we - as a community - must help instead.
I want these young people to be given the same encouragement and the same support too, so they can achieve whatever they put their minds to. As a worker in a small community, that last year attended a funeral of a young person that had taken their own life i am saddened that a young person could feel so unhappy or so much pressure. Like every other community we have our faults, but in Cromarty I know lots of people do care, and want to do what we can to help to know that our children are:
- safe
- having fun
- learning to develop social and technical skills
- actively encouraged to take part in whatever activity it may be to build confidence.
- given the chance to talk out and - more importantly - to be listened to.
